Personal Project: Book Covers

A dream of mine is to design books for authors. After writing so much music over the years and taking creative self portraits, I thought it'd be a beautiful project to combine all three into a series of book designs. All of these books are inspired by songs I've written + use photographs I've taken over the past decade.

The Weight of Ash

took inspiration from a memoir I might write of my own in another life - about my 20s; the way grief changed me, the decision to end my marriage, and rediscovering myself after the ash settles. The Weight of Ash refers to just that - the ashes of my father’s remains and the ash that remains after I set fire to my old life.

Here are 3 book concepts I designed using my portraits.

Little Earthquakes

A song I wrote in the fall of 2024 in the thick of my divorce. Written about the reflection of a past marriage that had so many signs of the foundation cracking. Little earthquakes being the arguments, the disconnection, the misalignments that we chose to ignore.

Juxtaposition

Written about the saying 'opposites attract' - I have this theory about differences being incompatibilities. Another reflection after ending my marriage and thinking about my relationship, how different we really were and how those differences became core reasons why we weren't right for each other.
